Graveyard Shenanigans

***DISCLAIMER: THE PURPOSE OF THIS BLOG IS TO HELP ME STAY AWAKE. IT MAY NOT BE VERY EXCITING. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK***

While I much prefer sleeping at night to working, I can honestly say that the graveyard shift can be entertaining... In the summer, with the students all gone, this shift includes me and one officer trying to keep each other awake all night. After watching "The Aviator," my officer said he was going out to make sure campus was still there. Shortly after he left, I got my only radio traffic for the evening. "Still there," he informed me.... So, I'm getting paid to sit here and not sleep...although it is rather tempting.

"The Aviator" was a good movie. But at almost three hours long, and it being a drama, definitely not a movie to watch on this late shift. But I did enjoy it and as far as I know, it did a very good job at portraying Howard Hughes' life. Next up on the movie list this morning is "Cellular." I've heard mixed reviews, so we'll see.

Another funny thing about the graveyard shift is all the infomercials. It's unbelievable how stupid these people are. Every infomercial I came across was exactly the same. Some overly excited guy yelling at the camera and the audience while some rediculously stupid lady with the acting skills of a mushroom pretends to be astonished at some product that does the same thing people have been doing in their houses since people had houses. Unfortunately, these infomercials seem to work, as they are always on.

Here are some funny quotes from infomercials:

"Set it...[audience]AND FORGET IT!" ... "Just three easy payments [as opposed to difficult payments?]" ... "Just the idea of having sex in other locations. Yeah, I like it, teehee. [I don't even know, I flipped through this one pretty quickly]" ... "WHOA! LOOK AT THAT! IT'S JUST BLOWING IT AWAY! LOOK AT THAT GUY GO! [An especially stupid girl]" ... "Not all steam is created equal. [You mean, my steam might be inferior? Sign me up!]"

OK, to my next movie... Have a great day!
